Well that would be me, Hamish. I, like you am a collector and restorer of vintage toys with my passion being New Zealand made Tonkas.

I started collecting back in 2016 after finding my dad’s NZ Tonka Big Mike dump truck and Army Transport set.

The dump truck was one of my favorite toys as a kid and at that stage I had no idea it was even Tonka, let alone that Tonka’s were even made in NZ, and down the rabbit hole I went…..

Well the bug bit me, and bit me hard. I started buying wrecks to restore as they were cheap and I was after a new hobby. That led to needing some parts.

It was at this point I found out just how expensive international shipping really was! So I put a post up on the Tonka Collectors – NZ Facebook group to see if anyone else needed parts so we could do a bulk order and split the shipping.

The response was more than I had anticipated. Fast forward a couple of years after organising multiple orders and developing a great relationship with Rick from Gasoline Alley Toys and Antiques in USA, the orders were getting bigger than my whiteboard could handle.

So this site was created.

I still collect and restore, my aim was to make it easier for everyone to get the parts they needed to save these awesome toys from the scrap heaps.

They’ve done the hard yards with the kids, lets give them the retirement they deserve.
